OGIER Sébastien/INGRASSIA Julien, FRA/FRA, CITROEN C3 WRC: "It is definitely not what we were hoping for. We knew that Baumholder is a lottery, and I have not picked the right number for the last two years. Two times two - I have had a puncture twice. Luckily the first one was only a slow puncture. The second came just ten kilometres into the stage, so I had to stop. It was frustrating again, especially as the car was finally a little better. I could make it turn better than at any other time this weekend."
SUNINEN Teemu/ LEHTINEN Jarmo, FIN/FIN, FORD Fiesta WRC: "We can be really happy with today. Especially as we did not really have anything to gain. We were just driving for fun and wanted to show our pace for the team position. I think we did that. The car worked nicely and we did not have any bigger problems. I enjoyed driving today. The first pass on the Panzerplatte stages was quite slippery with the dust."
LAPPI Esapekka/FERM Janne, FIN/FIN, CITROEN C3 WRC: "It was a very long day. It would certainly feel easier if it had been better. We managed to improve the car on tarmac. We faced some problems with the grip level on Panzerplatte. It was better on the second loop. Even though I am pushing, it is still not enough."
MEEKE Kris/MARSHALL Sebastian, GBR/GBR, TOYOTA Yaris WRC: "It is always nice when you gain two places over the day. I was a bit apprehensive about this morning's stages. I've only been here once in the last three years, so I was not that confident in the morning. We kept our gap to Seb and I knew that we could be strong on Panzerplatte. That proved to be the case. Obviously, Thierry and Seb picked up punctures, but for us it has certainly been a good day."
SORDO Dani/DEL BARRIO Carlos, ESP/ESP, HYUNDAI i20 Coupe WRC: "Today was really nice. We ended the day in fourth after starting in ninth, so I think it was a good day. Tomorrow is another long day and really difficult with lots of hairpins."
TÄNAK Ott/JÄRVEOJA Martin, EST/EST, TOYOTA Yaris WRC: "It is never easy, especially today. In the morning, Thierry was always a bit faster than me, but I never wanted to take any risks. I tried to be as consistent as possible. The conditions were so tricky on Baumholder that I believe you would have to have some luck to push all the time and still come out without a puncture."
LATVALA Jari-Matti/ANTTILA Miikka, FIN/FIN, TOYOTA Yaris WRC: "The first two stages did not look that promising, the driving was not that great and we were losing time. At that point, I would not have thought that we could be in the top three. We had a very good call from our boss Tommi Mäkinen, who said that the speed is okay and I should just relax and drive it - it's not that difficult. We also made a small, small change that gave me a bit more confidence"
NEUVILLE Thierry/GILSOUL Nicolas, BEL/BEL, HYUNDAI i20 Coupe WRC: "We saw, even on the second pass, that two of the championship contenders lost a lot of hope today on the Baumholder stage. We are back in fifth now, so we'll see what is possible tomorrow. I will try to get some points on the power stage."
KATSUTA Takamoto/BARRITT Daniel, JPN/GBR, TOYOTA, Yaris WRC "Very big day, from early morning to late evening. The stages are very tough. Plus, I had a puncture on the first one. I then needed to avoid a puncture on every single corner and straight, but we survived, so I'm quite happy."
GREENSMITH Gus/EDMONDSON Elliott, GBR/GBR, FORD Fiesta WRC "After we made the repairs on the road section, we were back on the pace. We then had an absolute disaster in the first Panzerplatte pass. It was nothing like I remembered it in an R5, and we did not get to test on it, so it was a big shock."
MIKKELSEN Andreas/JÆGER Anders, NOR/NOR, HYUNDAI i20 Coupe WRC: "We tried to drive fast and push. We had some moments, but the times have still not been up there. I really like tarmac, but am still not really feeling 100 percent confident in the car on tarmac. It was a bit better, but we are still far off where we should be."
GRIEBEL Marijan/WINKLHOFER Pirmin, DEU/DEU, SKODA Fabia R5 EVO "I was very happy with our speed today. This morning we were the fastest R5 car. Unfortunately, I had two punctures in one go on the first short Panzerplatte stage, which cost us about 30 seconds. However, we fought back. All in all, it was a good day. It is all to play for from first to fourth place tomorrow. We must continue to push, as a lot can still happen."
KREIM Fabian/BRAUN Tobias, DEU/DEU, SKODA Fabia R5 EVO "The gap is not so big and tomorrow is a long day. We must remain fully focussed and prepare as well as possible. We will attempt to avoid any mistakes again. As such, I cannot really enjoy the lead in WRC 2. Tomorrow, after the first stage, we'll see what the gap looks like."
